My father-in-law has been working with MSN Hotmail for some years, but as he is still using dial-up access to the internet, he prefers using Outlook Express to write his mails and then send them in one single burst to the internet. I’ve helped him setting up HotmailPOPS!, but with the recent changes in the Hotmail service (Transformation to a Live! service and so on), he asked me if I couldn’t find him something else.
It shouldn’t be too complicated, and given that he still is on Windows 98, it should be compatible with SuSE Linux 10.1, as I’m preparing a migration to that OS in the near future.
I’m still not sure what I should be doing. I have both YahooMAIL and GMail accounts, and both have their strong and weak points. Google officially supports POP3 access, but you can get your Yahoo mail by using Freepops into any POP3 compliant mail client.
