Google Analytics op het AIR platform
Since just over 2 weeks, I’ve installed the Analytics plugin for WordPress, and am looking at the number of people coming to my pages, and how they end up here. It’s quite interesting to see using which search terms people land on your sites. Posts from quite some time ago still attract visitors, which also helps with the click-rate on the Google Ads on the pages.
This may sound like kicking in an open window, but for all the AJAX components Google built the page with, I feel the site responds really slow. When you are analysing your traffic flows, you don’t want to be spending most of your time waiting for the AJAX to generate the views on the page. I might not be using the possibilities at the fullest (like tailoring the starting page in a way that I don’t have to surf along the different reports any more to see the basic data I am looking for), but there is a solution available: Google Analytics on AIR (currently in Beta).
It should take care of those long waiting times, and there is even a Desktop widget available that you can have on your desktop to punch you in the face how your site’s doing. Personally I don’t really see the use of the widget, as the Analytics data gets refreshed once a day. No point in staring at the widget to see the movements in real-time, but hey, it’s a free world.
This is the first use I’ve come across (without really looking to be honest) a Rich AJAX client that does something really useful. Let’s hope there will be others in the very near future.
